The Hamilton Book Tag

(This book tag was originally created by Maureen Keavy and is in no way associated with the actual Hamilton musical, or Lin Manuel Miranda.)

What's this? A resolution I'm sticking to? A couple of posts back, I said that I was going to do some more book tags, so here we go with a Hamilton themed one! And, of course, we are not throwing away our shot, so we have to do the bonus questions (Helpless down) too.

(Warning for a frankly embarassing number of song references, and major spoilers for Half Lost if you have good inference and deduction skills.)

The Room Where It Happens: a Book world you would put yourself in
And
You'll Be Back: Sassiest villain

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21416690-the-invisible-library

(Who didn't see this one coming?)

A world where librarians jump through dimensions, rescuing books that also happens to have dragons? Sign me up.

The sassiest villain is obviously Silver.

The Schuyler Sisters: Underrated Female Character

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25090719-the-sword-of-summer

Gunilla! Samira! And Mallory.

(Seriously though, can we please take a moment to appreciate Mallory Keen?)

My Shot: A character that goes after what they want and doesn't let anything stop them

Nothing stops Annie. Not the boundary between fiction and reality. Not the law. Not even logic.

Stay Alive: A character you wish was still alive
And
Burn: The most heartbreaking end to a relationship you’ve ever read

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26404831-half-lost

Two for one. If you've read it, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Honestly, this book will break your heart.

*Sobs uncontrollably*

The Reynolds Pamphlet - A book with a twist that you didn’t see coming

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22396591-the-dead-house

I still have absolutely no idea what really happened in this book.

(That's why I love it.)

Non-stop: A series you marathoned

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20409605-shiver

Sort of? I mean, I read them all within four months. That's as close as I've ever come to marathoning a book series - I usually read books as they're released.

Satisfied: Favorite book with multiple POVs

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23573418-i-ll-give-you-the-sun

Jude: I remember that choice, I just might regret that choice for the rest of my days.
Noah: I remember that Brian boy falling over himself to win my praise.

(*Raises eyebrows*)

Fine. I'll stop.
It has twin narrators.
Noah tells us what we missed and Jude tells us what comes next.

(You said you'd stop.)

Oh, don't pretend. You know you love it really.

Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story: A book/series you feel like will be remembered throughout history

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/72193.Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher_s_Stone

What do you mean Harry Potter isn't already a classic?

Helpless: A relationship you were pulling for from the very start

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/893172.The_Lightning_Thief

Did anybody not see Percy and Annabeth coming?

Say No To This: Guilty pleasure read

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1053412.The_Monk

DON'T JUDGE ME.

What Comes Next: A series you wish had more books

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2444163.Runemarks

I'd love to hear that a third Runemarks was coming out. Joanne Harris writes the best Loki.

(Take that, Marvel Loki.)

Ten Duel Commandments: Favorite fight scene
And
Right Hand Man - Favorite BROTP

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21082129-the-blood-of-olympus

The popcorn scene is the greatest fight scene every written. FIGHT ME.

Nico and Reyna definitely have my favourite fictional friendship, though Nico and Jason are a close second.

(Also, Sam and Cole from The Wolves of Mercy Falls. Their friendship is the best written relationship in the entire series.)

What’d I Miss: A book or series you were late to reading

I didn't read The Hunger Games until after I'd seen the Catching Fire film.

*Dodges tomato*

...I didn't enjoy it either.

*Dashes off the stage, ducking eggs and tomatoes*

I'm going to tag Kate @ The Magic Violinist, because I know she loves Hamilton (There is a 50% chance she's already done it), and anyone else who fancies giving this a try.

What's your favourite song from the Hamilton musical?
